Alsace Gravel Bike is a gravel bike rental agency located in Hattstatt, near Colmar, on the Alsace cycle route (EuroVelo 5).
Our gravel bikes are Welt brand. High-performance and comfortable, you can rent them for a half-day, a full day, or longer to explore the paths, vineyards, and hills around Colmar, Eguisheim, and Rouffach.
Embark with us on a fun and sporty adventure through the iconic landscapes of the Alsace Wine Route and the foothills of the Vosges Mountains!
Our agency
Located in Hattstatt, just across the highway, we welcome you by appointment only.
Book your gravel bikes online and pick them up in person (delivery possible depending on your location).
We'll welcome you to our dedicated area to hand over your reserved bike and accessories, adjust it to your size, and offer some helpful tips.
Then, you're ready to go on your gravel adventure!
The gravel spirit
A little bit of history
Gravel biking originated in the United States in the early 2000s, on the vast plains of the Midwest, where cyclists sought to ride long distances, alternating between roads, dirt tracks, and trails.
A hybrid between road cycling and mountain biking, gravel biking quickly established itself as an answer to the need for freedom, versatility, and simplicity. Its development has exploded in Europe since the late 2010s, driven by the rise of bikepacking and bicycle touring.
A different vision
The spirit of gravel riding is first and foremost one of accessible adventure, without the pressure of performance. It prioritizes the pleasure of discovery, connecting with nature, a deliberate slowness, and exploring off the beaten track. It's a friendly, open, and relaxed discipline where everyone rides at their own pace, without a stopwatch, simply for the joy of the ride.
